Rafael Ramírez Mesec se despidió de Bolivia tras finalizar su misión como representante de UNICEF y Coordinador Residente interino de Naciones Unidas. La ceremonia, organizada en La Paz por UNICEF y la Oficina del Coordinador Residente de Naciones Unidas, reunió a diversas autoridades, representantes diplomáticos y amigos para honrar su labor y desearle éxito en su nueva misión en Argentina.
La velada de despedida, realizada en el salón Germania del Hotel Europa en la ciudad de La Paz, reunió a diversas personalidades, incluyendo autoridades del Estado Plurinacional de Bolivia, representantes del cuerpo diplomático y la cooperación internacional, el sector privado, organismos gubernamentales y amigos que Ramírez acumuló durante su misión de cinco años.
Durante el evento, Ramírez ofreció un discurso emotivo en el que agradeció el apoyo de las autoridades y valoró las amistades forjadas en diversas regiones del país. Recordó momentos vividos en cada rincón de Bolivia, enfatizando el cariño de los niños, niñas y adolescentes bolivianos, quienes fueron el enfoque principal de su labor. “No voy a negar que me voy con pena. Bolivia es un país que es muy fácil de querer, hay otros países que lo hacen difícil, pero acá es muy fácil”, expresó Ramírez. “El otro día estaba en la terraza del edificio y miraba las montañas que están tan cerca, veo el hermoso paisaje y digo qué bonito que estar acá y me digo ¿por qué me voy? Me da pena, porque es un país hermoso, del cual se aprende mucho y se llega a querer”.
Los invitados, en su turno, agradecieron el trabajo realizado por Ramírez en Bolivia. La canciller Celinda Sosa, en nombre del Gobierno nacional, resaltó el compromiso del representante de UNICEF con la niñez y adolescencia boliviana. Se dirigieron también los jóvenes de la Confederación de Estudiantes de Secundaria de Bolivia, quienes agradecieron a Ramírez por su dedicación y empatía. La alcaldesa de Cobija, Ana Lucía Reis, envió sus deseos de éxito a Ramírez en su nueva función y destacó el apoyo brindado a los municipios a través de diversos programas. Asimismo, la viceministra de Igualdad de Oportunidades, Nadia Cruz, agradeció el apoyo de Ramírez tanto en sus funciones en UNICEF como en su reciente rol como Coordinador Residente (a.i) de Naciones Unidas en Bolivia. La noche culminó con reconocimientos y emotivos videos que celebraron los logros de Ramírez en el país por parte de su equipo de trabajo.

Rafael Ramírez Mesec: Ends his Mission in Bolivia
Rafael Ramírez Mesec said goodbye to Bolivia after finishing his mission as UNICEF representative and interim United Nations Resident Coordinator. The ceremony was held in La Paz by UNICEF and the Office of the United Nations Resident Coordinator, it brought together various authorities, diplomatic representatives and friends to honor his work and wish him success in his new mission in Argentina.
The farewell evening, held in the Germania room of the Hotel Europa in the city of La Paz, brought together various personalities, including authorities of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, representatives of the diplomatic corps and international cooperation, the private sector, government organizations and friends that Ramírez accumulated during his five-year mission.
During the event, Ramírez offered an emotional speech in which he thanked the authorities for their support and valued the friendships forged in various regions of the country. He recalled moments lived in every corner of Bolivia, emphasizing the affection of Bolivian boys, girls and adolescents, who were the main focus of his work. “I am not going to deny that I am leaving with sadness. Bolivia is a country that is very easy to love, there are other countries that make it difficult, but here it is very easy,” said Ramírez. “The other day I was on the terrace of the building and I looked at the mountains that are so close, I see the beautiful landscape and I say how nice it is to be here and I say to myself, why am I leaving? It makes me sad, because it is a beautiful country, from which you learn a lot and you come to love.”
The guests, in turn, thanked the work done by Ramírez in Bolivia. Foreign Minister Celinda Sosa, on behalf of the national government, highlighted the commitment of the UNICEF representative to Bolivian children and adolescents. Young people from the Confederation of Secondary School Students of Bolivia also attended and they thanked Ramírez for his dedication and empathy. The mayor of Cobija, Ana Lucía Reis, sent her wishes for success to Ramírez in her new role and highlighted the support provided to the municipalities through various programs. Likewise, the Vice Minister of Equal Opportunities, Nadia Cruz, thanked Ramírez for his support both in his functions at UNICEF and in his recent role as Resident Coordinator (a.i) of the United Nations in Bolivia. The night came to an end with recognitions and emotional videos that celebrated Ramírez’s achievements in the country by his work team.
